The house is perfectly set up and equipped to meet the needs of large groups, so it has always been very popular for special occasions such as anniversaries, big birthdays and, of course, family holidays. The accommodation itself is exceptional, blending stylish, contemporary luxury, with delightful period character. All rooms are large, beautifully proportioned, with high ceilings and big windows. Plenty of room for families and friends to come together, really stretch out and relax. Let’s walk you through the whole house, from top to bottom, so you can understand exactly where the rooms are in relation to the bathrooms, etc.
Situated in the centre is a large hall with wood burner, old rocking horse, grand father clock, huge stained glass window and beautiful Victorian gallery staircase.
The drawing room is 21 x 17ft with high ceilings, open log fire, huge comfy l-shaped sofa, a bookcase of reading delights, 42′ plasma TV, iPod docking station and double doors opening out onto views of the valley and garden.
The sitting room next door is ideal for the younger generation and doubles as a games room, with large flat screen TV, DVD player, Wii, Cornilleau all weather table tennis table and cupboard full of games.
This is the ideal work retreat, with a Mac desktop computer, wireless printer, stationary, Skype account and mainline phone for guest use.
The kitchen / breakfast room is a place for all to come together, 24ft long, with large solid oak farmhouse table seating 15 comfortably, double range cooker, large fridge freezer, high-end Bosch dishwasher, microwave, food mixer/chopper and abundance of crockery, cookware and utensils.
Also downstairs is a laundry room with washing machine, drier, fridge/freezer, iron and ironing board, plus a separate drying room.
Large downstairs toilet just before the porch, with ample hanging for coats and space for boots.
This is where you’ll find the beach gear, windbreakers, buckets, spades, fishing nets and the garden badminton set.
Also round the back is a large outdoor slate sink and hose for washing down wetsuits and muddy dogs!
All the bedrooms are large and airy with high ceilings, stylishly decorated with a range of antique and painted furniture.
The beds have top of the range mattresses, Egyptian cotton bed linen, coordinating throws and big fluffy duvets. All the rooms have wardrobes or chest of draws and the larger rooms have both.
The master suite has a superking bed with Hypnos mattress, with ensuite to Bathroom A. Large and light, tastefully decorated with a mix of antique and painted furniture. Crisp white Egyptian cotton linens.
Bedroom 2 (aka Cherry) has a kingsize bed with top of the range Hypnos mattress and crisp white Egyptian cotton linens. It has south facing valley views and is tastefully decorated with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture.
Bedroom 3 (aka Cazlet) has a superking bed with top of the range Hypnos mattress and crisp white Egyptian cotton linens. and south-facing valley views.
Bedroom 4 is our twin bedroom (two full-size single beds). It has west-facing garden views.
Bedroom 5 (aka Bee) is another kingsize room with crisp white Egyptian cotton linens. Views extend to the east over the garden and driveway.
En-suite to main bedroom with door directly to landing as well, Bathroom A has a toilet, basin and bath with shower over. It is stylishly decorated in neutral colours with wooden floor and large heated towel rail. Bath towels are provided and luxury bath products are complimentary.
Bathroom B, also on the 1st floor, has a toilet, basin, cast iron roll top bath with shower over. It is also stylishly decorated in neutral colours with wooden floor and large heated towel rail. Bath towels are provided and luxury bath products are complimentary.
Bathroom C, also on the 1st floor, has a toilet, basin and shower. Bath towels are provided and luxury bath products are complimentary.
Large attic room with a double bed and single. This room is perfect for children or adults.
Large attic room with a full size single bed and a double bunk bed which is suitable for children up to 14 years old.
Extra accommodation if needed (at additional cost), The Bothy, positioned is directly behind and above the main house, up a few steps. This is a sweet Victorian outhouse with an extra king suite. It has all the charm, warmth and cosiness of a Snow White’s cottage, but with all the modern comforts of luxury living.
The bedroom suite is floored in oak, with a wet room clad in slate leading off, all heated with underfloor heating. In the Autumn/Winter months there is a wood burner to light.
Although all our bedrooms are ‘luxury retreats’, we do recommend that straws are drawn for The Bothy, as everyone will want to sleep here!
We don’t recommend for the elderly, as it does have its quirks.
